Canberra is not just public servants and roundabouts! It is a city offering world-class attractions, such as the National Gallery, National Museum of Australia and Questacon, and a unique bush setting that sets us apart from all over capitals.
But it is not just we Canberrans that think this. Canberra was voted 3rd best city in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2018 list …. in the world! (Okay, we were shocked too, but that does not mean Canberra hasn’t got a lot to offer travellers.)Here’s what Lonely Planet said:
“Criminally overlooked Canberra packs a big punch for such a small city. National treasures are found around almost every corner and exciting new boutique precincts have emerged, bulging with gastronomic highlights and cultural must-dos.”
So to introduce visitors to our city, we have lined up a taste-menu of conference social events!

We’ll meet at the Mocca and Green Grout cafe, walk over the Lake Burley Griffin Bridge and amble past some of Canberra’s key icons – the National Library, Questacon, Old Parliament House, High Court of Australia, National Gallery and Portrait Gallery, across King’s Bridge and past the National Carillon and Blundell’s Cottage before returning back to the starting point.
You should have time to return to your accommodation and grab a bite to eat before making your way to Braddon for the Follies in the evening.
