Directions and transport


The conference will be held at the Australian National University in two venues – the CBE building and the Copland Theatre on Kingsley Stree, ACTON.

Arriving by car

From Canberra Airport:

  • Head south-east on Pialligo Avenue. 
  • Continue onto Morshead Drive.
  • Continue onto Parkes Way
  • Exit onto Coranderrk Street. 
  • Continue onto Cooyong Street then Barry Drive.
  • Turn onto Kingsley Street and CBE is at the end.

From the Federal Highway:

  • Take the Federal Highway to Canberra. 
  • Continue onto Northbourne Avenue. 
  • Turn right onto Barry Drive. 
  • Turn left onto Kingsley Street and CBE is at the end.

From the Hume Highway:

  • Take the Hume Highway and exit onto the Barton Highway to head to Canberra. 
  • Turn right onto Gunghalin Drive. 
  • Take the Belconnen Way exit to the City. 
  • Follow Belconnen Way onto Barry Drive.
  • Turn right onto Kingsley Street and CBE is at the end.

From Kings HIghway:

  • Take the Kings Highway and take the 3rd exit onto Yass Road. 
  • From Yass Road continue onto Pialligo Avenue
  • Follow the same directions as travelling from Canberra Airport.

Parking at the ANU: CBE & Copland Theatre

There are several parking options if you are travelling to the conference by car.

  1. ANU pay as you go parking: Located at Toad Hall (Google Maps plus code: P4FF+QH ); Baldessin Precinct Parking Station (Level 4 & 5, Google maps link – )

  1. There are several multi-story car parks near CBE and Copland Theatre:

Marcus Clarke Car Park (Google Maps plus code P4CG+W5 or use this link ): Hourly parking from $2.00 and early bird parking from $13.00. Open from 7am to 7pm. Maximum height of 1.9 metres.
City West Carpark (Google Maps plus code P4CG+J5 or use this link ): Cost varies according to length of stay. Whole day parking is $20.00 with rooftop parking $15.00 per day (before 9.30am). Closed Saturday and Sunday, open 6am to 9pm Monday – Thursday. Maximum height of 2.10 metres.

Getting Around Canberra

To and From the Airport


The taxi rank is located centrally on the ground floor of the terminal building, just a short walk from the baggage carousels in the Arrivals Hall. The taxi rank is fully undercover and the waiting area is indoors for your convenience. The average fare to the city is $23 to $26.

RideShare options and Pick-up location

Your driver will pick you up from the Express Pick-Up Car Park, located on the ground floor of the GREEN Indoor Car Park, a short 20 metre covered walk from the Arrivals Hall. The Express Pick-Up has a dedicated passenger waiting lounge adjacent to the car park where you can wait for your ride in air-conditioned comfort. Transport Canberra runs regular ACTION bus services between the Canberra Airport terminal and city bus station, seven days a week. Bus number: 11 & 11A. You can view the timetables for these routes on the Transport Canberra website.

An adult single fare is $4.80 while concession, Tertiary and School Student single fares cost less. Payment can be made on the bus, at time of travel or MyWay cards (see next section for details on MyWay cards) are accepted and have lower fares.

Bus Services


Payment: A MyWay card is the cheapest and easiest way to pay for bus trips. Cards can be purchased and recharged at most newsagents and Canberra Connect shopfronts. They can be recharged online and over the phone. You can also pay for bus trips with cash on board the bus.

The closest one to the Copland Theatre is at the Post Office at the ANU Popup Village.

ANU is well serviced by buses, with over thirty routes travelling close to and through the ANU campus. Route 3 and Route 7 travel through the middle of the ANU campus on weekdays and Route 934 on weekends.  Routes by number and maps can be found on the Transport Canberra website at


All the venues for social events are within 15 – 20  mins walk from CBE and the Copland Theatre at ANU.
